The Aqua-Sure Free Standing Ultra Violet Ozone Sterilizer
** Limited Time Special Offer**- Free with every UVO unit is a 43mm Aqua-Jet Demountable Ventri & a replacement UVO bulb
The Aqua-Sure Free Standing Ultra Violet Ozone Sterilizer (UVO Sterilizer) has been designed with strength, reliability and energy efficiency at the forefront. Incorporating several key features that set this product apart from all other UV Clarifiers. Firstly, it uses a specialized bulb that not only works like a conventional ultraviolet bulb but also produces Ozone(O3) gas. The Ozone produced is “drawn” from the quartz sleeve and mixed with the treated water.
The free standing design makes for a neat space saving installment while the 6mm thick industrial grade canister ensures for a strong and robust outer body. The unit also incorporates an inner body to allow the untreated water to come in close contact with the full length of the Ultra Violet Ozone Bulb (UVO bulb). Coupled with the low energy consumption of the electrics making for a highly efficient unit
As mentioned previously, this unit uses an UVO Bulb. The bulb emits ultraviolet light but also produces Ozone gas, combining two different sterilizers together in one standalone product,This is making the UVO unit in effect twice as powerful, smaller sized units can be used on larger applications . The untreated water is pumped in the unit and comes in contact with the full length of the UVO bulb, from here the water is returned back to the pond where a method of aeration mixes the Ozone (O3) gas. The addition of the Ozone will prevent and cure common ailments such as bacterial infections, fungal infections, low immune system, ulcers, mouth sores and fin rot.
UVO Sterilizer Unit Sizes – There are two sizes of units available in the UVO range an 18 Watt and 55 Watt. Both units are extremely powerful due to the combination of both ultra violet light & ozone (O3.
18 Watt UVO Sterilizer Unit produces approximately 424.5mg of ozone per hour – Size (Height 520mm)
55 Watt UVO Sterilizer Unit produces approximately 1297.2mg of ozone per hour – Size (Height 820mm)
18 Watt UVO Sterilizer Unit – MAX Pond Size (4,000 Gallons – 18,184 Liters)
55 Watt UVO Sterilizer Unit – MAX Pond Size (10,000 Gallons – 45,460 Liters)
UVO Sterilizer Air Outlet Connection Options – The air outlet can be connected in several different way such as via an Protein Extractor, Aerator or Venturi. The ozonated air is drawn/pulled through and out the UVO Sterilizer Unit with either venturi injection or an airpump and fed to the chosen method of aeration. (Refer to diagrams)
Why The Aqua-Sure UVO Sterilizer? – Air Care Products (manufacturers of all Aqua-Sure products) have been producing Ultra Violet Sterilizers since 1980. Over this period have managed to produce a unit that is unmatched in performance and reliability. All the Sterilizers are made from UV-stabilized materials to ensure a longer life, whilst the design ensures a highly efficient unit at affordable prices. However over the last decade Air Care Products have turned their attention to ozone as a method of sterilization. When ozone is implemented in the correct way it is unrivaled in water treatment.
How does a Ultra Violet Sterilizer Work? – Ultra Violet Sterilizers kill 99% of floating algae as well as other living organisms. They do not harm the beneficial bacteria that grow in filters, etc. in your pond. They only kill the organisms that are floating in the water and that come in direct contact with the UV bulb. For Koi/Fish keeping it is best to opt for a UV sterilizer because it not only clears ‘Green Water’ but, as the term ‘Sterilizer’ infers, it also sterilizes the water itself – thus helping to kill the harmful bacteria that lives in the water.
Single-celled green algae, (Chlorella vulgaris) requires light and nutrients to thrive. It is one sign that your pond is generally healthy, but it doesn’t do much for your overall enjoyment of viewing your Koi/ Fish! The small algae cells can pass through conventional filters, so physically filtering them out in their normal form is next to impossible.
However, passing the cells through a UV disrupts their internal structure, destroying their ability to multiply and makes them clump together or ‘flocculate’. Once they have clumped together they are big enough to be removed by your normal filtration system.
Ultraviolet Sterilization is unmatched in its efficiency, simplicity, and dependability when applied as a microorganism disinfectant. UV sterilization is a proven solution to waterborne algae as well as other harmful pathogen problems.
How does Ozone work? – Ozone, O3, occurs naturally in the world around us by the combination of oxygen, O2 in the air and ultra violet rays or by the electrical discharge during a lighting storm. On some occasions, you can smell the pungent odour after an electrical storm. Ozone is a natural purifier, meaning no harmful chemical by-products are created. When dissolved in water, ozone decomposes rapidly, forming hydroxyl radicals. Hydroxyl radicals are highly reactive and have a very short lifespan, but they are also potent oxidizers, which are very good at attacking contaminants and safely decomposing organic waste. Once reacted, ozone reverts back to harmless, non-reactive oxygen (O2) molecules.
The oxidation process has a huge effect on not only the quality of the water but also the visual aspect. The link between them both is surprisingly similar. The food that we feed our Koi is extremely high in protein. Koi cannot process/utilize much more than 25-30% of protein the rest is pure waste; and in return ends up as mulma. The mulma will pass through your filter system but not all will be collected and will return back to your pond.
The mulma is dissolved into the water, making dissolved organic carbons (DOCs). Bacteria thrive by feeding on the high proteins in DOCs. The bacteria will cause ailments such as bacterial infections, fungal infections, low immune systems, ulcers, mouth sores, fin rot and parasite infestations. These are all extremely detrimental to the fishes health.
Algae is caused by the presence of too much organic waste. If the amount of organic waste is too high, the water loses the ability to maintain adequate oxygen levels. The more organic waste there is in the pond, the higher the biological oxygen demand will be. Since aerobic bacteria require oxygen to break down organic waste, the absence of oxygen provided by organic material allows algae and different kinds of “weed” to thrive. This will also affect the clarity of the water, causing a yellowy/brown tinge and in some cases a green film to appear on the surface.
Is Ozone dangerous to my pond or fish? – Ozone is a potent oxidizer and can be fatal if implemented in the wrong dosage, an ORP above 700 mV would kill any type of aquatic life within minutes. However, the UVO units has been designed to produce a small and controlled dose of Ozone per hour. Providing that the correct dosages are used and ORP is monitored there will be no detrimental effects. Air Care Products have been manufacturing and distibuting the Aquasure Ozone units globally since the early 2000s. During this time, it has been implemented in a multitude of fresh and saltwater applications from tropical fish fry tanks, large-scale koi breeders/wholesalers, trout farms and right through to the pond hobbyist. In this time there have been NO reports of any detrimental effects whatsoever to any type/breed of fish of any size or age. All ozone has been introduced to the water directly via aeration and all fish have been exposed directly to the bubbles.

The table shows the size of pond a given Aqua-Sure UVO Sterilizer Unit will clear of green water algae. These are only recommended sizes although many customers have reported using our units on ponds of more than double our suggested pond sizes while still achieving superb results. For optimum results, all of the pond water should be pumped through the UVO every 1.5 – 2 hours.
If you have a severe algae problem you should ensure a partial water change before starting the installation of the Aqua-Sure UVO Sterilizer Unit.
Complete Ozonair system – Ozone is generated by the UVO bulb and must be injected into the water This can be done in several methods such as via an Protein Extractor, Aerator or Venturi. Air is either drawn through the UVO Unit by venturi injection or with an air pump, then fed to an Aerator.
Venturi Injection – The Venturi is a fantastic addition to any pond, as it injects air into pond water to ensure adequate pond aeration without the need for an extra pump or power supply to run it. The Venturi connects to the UVO Sterilizers outlet and using the flow of water being produced from the pond circulation pump, will create a vacuum which will suck the ozonated air from the UVO quartz reaction chamber and mix with the water inside the Venturi. This makes bubbles filled with ozone (O3) to not only increase the amount of oxygen dissolved in the pond water but also carrying on the sterilization process. To install simply connect the Venturi air supply tube to the 6mm barbed air fitting on top of the UVO unit. (as shown)
Air Pump/Compressor – The UVO Sterilizer unit can also supply ozonated air to pond aerators. The air pump will suck/draw ozone (O3) gas from the UVO quartz reaction chamber and feed directly to an aerator. Connect the air pump input to the 6mm barbed air fitting on top of the UVO unit and connect the output of the air pump to the aeration of choice. (Please note: ozone degradation)
Please note: Air can only be drawn through the UVO unit, due to not being designed to be pressurized.
To get the best out of the UVO unit it is recommended that it is used in conjunction with an aerator from the Aqua-Jet Air diffuser range, this range has been designed especially with the Aquasure ozone products in mind.
The range of aerators produces huge plumes of fine bubbles that maximize the saturation of Ozone in the water, ensuring maximum efficiency and effectiveness. A protein extractor or an ozone reactor to mix the ozone produced with the water as efficiently as possible, allowing the water to have full saturation of ozone, then remove any residual ozone before the water is returned to the pond or aquarium.
Fault Indicator – This Aquasure UVO Sterilizer has been designed with a built in Fault Indicator. If a fault occurs the visual Fault Indicator light will illuminate on the front of the Electronic Unit. If a fault is detected, the fault detector will shut the Electronic Unit down to protect the internal workings of the unit and UVO tube, giving no power output to the bulb.
Installation – The Aqua-Sure UVO Sterilizer unit is supplied with parts for setup options for most standard sizes of rigid solvent weld waste pipe and flexible hose. For best results the unit should be fitted inline, after the pump, with water being forced through. Please ensure the largest size of pipe is used, this will ensure optimum water flow.
Flexible Options –
4 Stepped Hosetails (Compatible hose with an internal diameter (ID) of 20mm (3/4″) – 25mm (1″) 32mm – (1.25″) 38mm-(1.5″) flexi hose.)
3 Stepped Hosetails (Compatible hose with an internal diameter (ID) of 30mm-40mm-50mm)
When connecting any form of flexible hose to a hosetail the internal diameter (ID) of the flexible hose will have to match one of the steps on the hosetail
Always cut your hosetail to the correct size and de-burr the cut for maximum flow
